Official says EpiVacCorona to reach all Russian regions in

MOSCOW, Nov 27 (PRIME) -- Russian vaccine for the coronavirus EpiVacCorona will be available in all regions in 2021, Alexander Ryzhikov, head of the animal-borne infections department of the vaccine producer research center of virology and biotechnology Vector, said on Friday.

"I think that it will appear in virtually all Russian regions in 2021 so we can set next year as a guideline. Civil access is to be provided from December 10, mass-scale vaccination is slated to start in 2021," Ryzhikov said.

The Russian Healthcare Ministry registered the world’s first coronavirus vaccine on August 11. At first, the Gamaleya institute and pharmaceutical company Binnopharm were to produce it, while R-Pharm and Generium were to join them soon. Multi-industry holding Sistema said that Binnopharm’s capacities allow it to produce 1.5 million doses of the vaccine per year, and that it planned to start mass production until the end of 2020.

Russia registered a second vaccine for the coronavirus produced by the Vector State Center for Virology and Biotechnology (Vector Institute) called EpiVacCorona in October.
